When you consider the gardens you saw when growing up, what ones stand out? Often it will be the traditional garden designs.
A traditional garden is how most people picture gardens in their mind when they are considering doing up their gardens. It generally describes an average garden which has a lawn, trees and often plants. There are a number of different traditional garden styles you can adopt, for example formal or informal, themed and lots of other different themes.
Before you even consider changing the design of your garden, think about the look you are going for and how much time you have to maintain it. If you are busy through the week, then you may not have the time to replant or water lots of plants within your garden. They particularly need more time during the Spring and Summer works as the sun shines down and there is less rain. However, if you have lots of time on your hands then you are more likely to be able to afford a lavish deisgn with lots of flowers and plants to care for.
When originally created, traditional garden designs were all about appearances, filled with statues, fountains and perfect plants. However the style has changed over the years and traditional designs are now much more functional, incorporating BBQ areas into gardens and children’s play areas as well. These types of gardens are very popular today as the designs are easy to maintain.
A traditional design doesn’t mean you can’t include modern features. For example, as previously mentioned, you may want to include a BBQ area which will instantly make the design more modern. You could also include a ‘rock garden’ which takes elements from modern designs but still maintains a traditional feel.
There are many things you need to think about when you are designing your garden, if you are considering a redesign then it’s a good idea to ask professionals advice. Professionals can help you to choose plants which will be suitable in all seasons, and suit you. They can also help you to design your garden and turn your dreams into a reality, using the correct materials and keeping within your budget.
