Warm Up your Garden for Spring Evenings

11/03/2015Garden TipsOutdoor Creations

With Spring just around the corner, clocks will next month be springing forward. This does of course mean we will be ‘losing an hour’, but on the plus side it means days will be longer and with any luck the temperature should also be picking up. Although it may not quite be shorts and t -shirt weather just yet, the longer days certainly mean we can enjoy more time out in our gardens. In this post we are looking at ways you can make the most of the longer days and keep yourself warm whilst enjoying the extra light Spring brings with it.

There are various different options available to keep you and your guests warm when the sun disappears, used properly they can even become a great talking point of your garden design.

Patio Heaters

Patio Heaters come all different shapes and sizes. From large floor standing heaters to small table top heaters, so it’s easy to find one that perfectly suits not only your garden design, but also your needs. The advantage of patio heaters is the fact the heat is almost instantaneous, once the heater is turned on they almost immediately begin radiating heat. The only real thing that must be maintained is ensuring there is always enough gas in your gas canister.

Fire Pits

Fire pits are also available in many different designs, you can even one have built to be incorporated into your garden design. If you have space in your garden, having a fire pit built with seating aroudn it can provide an excellent space for entertaining and evening relaxing. If you do not have the space to have fire pit constructed in your garden, they are also available as stand alone products meaning they can be stored away in the winter and not left in the garden to face the elements. Fire pits need to be started early to ensure any smoke from logs has settled down before sitting round enjoying the heat, but once they are lit and heated they are most certainly worth the wait.

Fire Baskets

Fire baskets work using the same concept as fire pits. However, most fire pit designs are far more compact than fire pits, so if space is limited within your outdoor space this might be a better option for you. Fire baskets are easy to clean as most designs allow the ash to fall below and be caught by a dedicated plate.

Also be sure to allow enough space around your heater or fire to ensure there is no chance of anything catching fire around it.
