Now that spring has officially arrived and you have hopefully prepared your garden using the top tips we shared previously, we have more tips for you! Since the weather is meant to be warming up, we can start thinking about using our gardens again, for our own personal pleasure and relaxation or for the entertainment of our nearest and dearest.
The long winter weather has probably made your wooden decking look a little worse for wear, it may be slippery, discoloured and not that nice to look at. Overall it will just need to be freshened up ready for any outdoor entertainment you have planned. If this is the case we have recently shared with you how to clean and maintain your wooden decking. Follow the steps in that post in order to get your wooden decking ready.
Prepare Your Barbecue
Putting away the barbecue after summer means it’s officially over, so surely getting it out again means it’s officially summer, right? Chances are your barbecue has been sitting in the shed or garage for quite a while now, simply put your barbecue back where it belongs and give it a good clean by scraping and scrubbing the grills with warm soapy water, and it will be ready for any and all outdoor entertainment.
Prepare Outside Furniture
The same goes for your outdoor furniture, putting it away to protect it from the harsh winter weather is a given so it will need to be put back out and wiped down fully before using again.
Invest in Outdoor Heater
Although we all like to think that sunny days means warm days, this is not always the case in spring, it may look deceivingly warm but in actuality still be quite cold. In this case an outdoor heater would be a good investment, if you already own one place it out on the deck among your other furniture to make sure you and guests are kept warm during any outdoor entertainment.
We are all eager for those long summer days where you can stay outside for as long as you please without the dark forcing you back inside. Until then to make the most of your outdoor space during spring try investing in some simple outdoor lighting such as solar powered lights or a string of fairy lights, it will allow you to stay out longer while also giving your outside space a nice atmosphere, this will improve any outdoor entertainment you have planned.
Now is the time to allocate an area of your garden to growing your own fruit and vegetables, plant the seeds now and hopefully by summer you can cook up your own home grown vegetables on the BBQ and impress all your guests. Not only is it extremely satisfying watching them grow, it is also a great money saver especially if you are planning outdoor entertainment on a budget.
