The dark and dull evenings are not made for sitting in the garden, so when the long warm summer nights finally return we all like to make the most of them. In this weeks blog we are looking at how lighting can have a great effect on your garden design both during the summer and winter.
Before we begin, it is very important to ensure any lights you place in your garden are designed for outdoor use, you will find a selection at your local garden centre.
Lighting up your garden allows you to spend even longer out in the garden during the summer months, it can also brighten up your garden in the winter on those dark damp nights.
Tree lights are not just for Christmas trees, placing lights on a tree in your garden can have a magical effect on your garden and can create a real talking point when the sun goes down. By trailing lights up your tree from the trunk and running them up on to over hanging branches, you can create an excellent and a great source of light for when the sun goes down.
LED Strip Lights
If you have benches incorporated into your garden design, a great way to make your seating area come to life in the evening is by running LED strip lights underneath the seats.
Candles are an excellent way to bring light into your garden design. Candles are not just meant for the table, they can look great hanging from the side of your fence or even under your parasol above the table. Another great advantage of candles is you do not need electricity to power them!
The most obvious benefit of solar lights in your garden is that they do not require any power sent to them. They can harness the light the sun gives off during the day. Solar lights are perfect for lighting up paths or stairs so they can always be seen in the dark. Solar lights are also wireless so can be place anywhere within your garden, but ensure they are placed in a sunny position so they collect as much light possible during the day.
