How Landscaping can add value to your home

If you are looking to move home, it’s likely that you’ll want to improve the value of your home with some home improvements. Certain home improvements can add up to 20% to the value of your house. This could be achieved through a new kitchen re-fit, bathroom re-fit or perhaps even a new garden. In fact, one of the easiest and best ways to add value to your home is through landscaping.

It takes just thirty seconds to create an impression and it’s often the case that potential home buyers get their first impression of your home before they even walk through the front door. Even so, decorating gardens is often overlooked when selling a home. This is surprising when it’s proven that an attractive and well-maintained landscaped garden can add up to ten per cent onto the value of your home.

So how can you ensure that you are making the most of every opportunity when selling your home? You should consider any other sales within your area, perhaps look at how much they have sold for as this can help you to understand what needs to be done to your home to achieve that sale price or more. One factor which should never be overlooked is the garden and this should be planned effectively.

The first consideration you should make is how will your garden be used? This may be difficult to imagine if you are selling your home. However you can consider the size of your garden and the activities that could be undertaken within your garden. For example, if you only have a small garden then you may want to consider a particular way to use it. However if you have a larger garden you could consider having different areas within the garden.

You may want to undertake the task yourself, or you could consider hiring a professional to complete your project. In doing so, you may spend out a bit of money but it’s more likely you will increase the value of your home. This is because when you look at your garden you may struggle to decide what needs to be changed, which is where a professional can help as they don’t have an emotional attachment to your home.

Even if you aren’t looking to sell your home in the near future, why not treat yourself in time for Summer? Spring is on its way meaning that more time is generally spent in the garden so you may enjoy a more stylish garden to relax within.
