The addition of a new orangery to extend a delightful property near Oxshott in Surrey, prompted the owners to update their garden. The new building occupied a sizeable portion of garden, and looked directly in to the garden which had the side of a garage as a backdrop.
A lovely space has now been created: a traditional-style courtyard, with a patio of mixed sized sandstone and brick-on edge detailing. Curved oak lattice screens form a back drop to a lovely Lutyens style bench, which is a wonderful place to enjoy the evening sun. These oak screens and mature, pleached trees cleverly obscure the view of the garage wall (and its roof). A series of oversize pots contain attractive box ball spheres which soften and improve the new view of an existing retaining wall. The planting layout is largely symmetrical and will provide colour and form during all seasons. An automatic irrigation system ensure all remains lush and vibrant particularly during the hot summer months.
